Why Being Debt Free is Not Always a Good Idea
There are those that understand the problems one can have to deal with due to being locked up with a large amount of debt. That is why most people would prefer to stay away from racking up a lot of debt. Unfortunately, some people take this process a few steps too far.
Often, people equate debt with credit. This inaccurate. You see, you can have credit without necessarily being in debt. Also, someone without credit can also be in debt, as many who use payday loan companies will tell. Just by the way, we are not against payday loan companies as they can be a savior in situations of dire need.
Those trying to avoid getting in debt may opt to avoid taking on any credit cards or will accept only credit cards with very low debt ceilings. On the surface, this may seem like a decent idea but it is not.
Imagine you were in a situation where your car was in dire need of repairs. Or, imagine if you suffered some sort of weather damage to your home. The fees of having to repair the problems with the home are just far beyond what you could afford to pay in liquid cash. Sadly, you are unable to make charges on your credit card(s) because the debt limit on the credit cards is too low.
Essentially, you have found yourself in a scenario where it is impossible to extricate yourself from a tough situation because available credit is lacking.
Yes, credit is important and that is why it is necessary to have enough credit available to make charges when needed. If you lack available credit, you may find yourself in a disaster situation that could have been completely avoided.
At the heart of being debt free is not having access to credit it is the judicious use of credit. In other words, it is how you use the credit card that makes you debt free. A credit card that is not abused does not become one that causes significant problems with the ability to make payments on the credit card.
So, feel free to have as many credit cards as you want (to a point as this can also be counterproductive). Just do not overuse or abuse them. This is what will keep you out of the problem of excess debt that so many people may be seriously concerned about.
Then, there is another problem that may be presented when you do not use your credit cards. When they are not used, there is no credit history that is being devised. This can prove problematic when there is a need to take a loan.
Imagine your business needed a loan to remodel an office or expand functional operations and the bank turned you down due to a lack of a credit history. You would basically be completely devastated if such a scenario occurred because no financing could completely shut you down in your pursuits. That is most definitely not a position one would wish to be in when looking to expand and explore business ventures.
Yet, many people make many of the same problems via errors in judgment. Their intentions may have been noble but the end result proved to be little more than disastrous.
